WSTA reduces CO2 footprint at the filming for the Louis Vuitton Trophy the WSTA (world sailing teams Association), organizers of the Louis Vuitton trophy, together with GliderTV is testing a unique method for filming the regatta in La Maddalena. In addition to a helicopter, a motor glider films the teams and the sports event. The motor glider S10, manufactured by STEMME, the leading manufacturer of motor gliders, combines the features of a glider and motor aircraft. A motor glider was deliberately selected for filming of the event since this is more environmentally friendly than a helicopter. The S10 fuel consumption amounts to 14 litres per hour, so 25 times less than the average consumption of a helicopter.
The usage of the S10 is therefore the only alternative to reduce the CO2 balance during the aerial photography. The STEMME S10 motor glider has not only a low CO2 balance, it makes also no noise and can fly for up to 10 hours. In addition, it provides film material, the material filmed by helicopter in “nothing is: all types of camera systems can be connected, the operation RADIUS is up to 2,000 km, and live streaming on the Internet and a RelayModus” are also possible. A further advantage is that can be the motor glider caused no turbulence and thus avoid many risks. A great success for the STEMME S10 motor glider was the world record in the Cross-Country soaring in the year 2000. The 2,463 km stretch in the Andes in South America was laid back in about 14 hours without a motor. The manufacturer of the motor glider, the STEMME AG, worked for 25 years at the perfection of their products. “The S10 is the best glider that ever built, it is very easy to use. With a minimum speed of 70 km/h, it is ideal for filming. The motor glider can be used not only for filming sports events but also for filming in all kinds of outdoor events.
