Accommodation

Segovia is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. The set of the architectonic legacy of the Centre of Segovia was included in the World Heritage list in 1985, in response to the need to preserve the existence of the Roman aqueduct, was built in the 1st century A.d. to supply water to an important Roman military enclave. It has a length is total of 15 km, of which approximately one in archery and the rest underground channel. It has been restored on several occasions (15th-19th centuries) but the party central, which corresponds to the double arches, is authentically Roman. Construction is made of granite, and between their blocks there is no bonding material, staying in balance thanks to a perfect study of thrust and weight of the stones.

It has 128 pillars; your point more high in the Azoguejo square reaches 28 meters in height. The Alcazar: first historical data are from the 12th century, but it is very likely that existed earlier sites. Exterior decoration corresponds to the restoration that sent Felipe II. In the interior you can visit various rooms where different styles occur: Romanesque, Gothic, Mudejar and Renaissance. Conceived initially as fortress due to its privileged location on the rock clipped as a bow between the rivers Eresma and Clamores, in 15th century acquires importance with the Trastamara, becoming the Alcazar and Segovia Center of the Court. This Palacio-Castillo has been the scene of important events: celebration of Cortes generales, residence of Isabel la Catolica, bodas de Felipe II, until in 1764 Carlos III assigned to artillery Academy. In 1862 a fire destroyed much of the Castle, which has been restored, settling in 1890 the military General archive, that still remains. The mansions of stately, as the House of peaks, takes its name from decoration diamond which holds its Renaissance style facade.

Above the door is the coat of arms of the sickle, and inside you can observe an interesting hallway and courtyard (16th century), the Cathedral, the last of Gothic built in Spain. Inside you can admire the stained glass windows of the 16th century, chapels with interesting works of art, gotico-flamigero choir, the retrochoir of Ventura Rodriguez, the Altar, the cloister and the Cathedral Museum. And several Romanesque temples (San Millan, San Esteban, San Justo,) in an exceptional urban fabric whose age dates back to the Roman path in terms of the province cannot be left to see the Royal palaces of la Granja (with its gardens and fountains) and Riofrio. Several routes such as the route of the castles and the Romanesque route. Places with enough for your visit entity are Sepulveda, Cuellar, Coca, Turegano, Pedraza, Riaza, Ayllon or Maderuelo. In addition to visiting the entire area of the natural parks of Sierra de Guadarrama and the Hoces del rio Duraton. And we are sure that there are many more corners with charm, but here I only list some. Gastronomic tourism is another of the attractions of Segovia. Dishes typical are the piglet, the beans from la Granja, Ponche Segoviano, suckling lamb, la Castellana soup and chorizos and products from the slaughter of the pig. The accommodation can be a little expensive but can opt for rustic houses for rent in the countryside near Segovia.
